Everyone rolls their eyes when they recognize that the last name of the Australian Hobart family is a city in Tasmania. But did you know that Kent (last name of Victoria, the British Princess), is a county in England? And that Ramsey is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey?
Are there any other examples of this phenomenon?
Kent is supposed to be so obvious though. There actually is a Duke of Kent, but with “Sir Charles and Lady Kent” as her parents, Victoria would never have been a real princess.

I wonder if there is a Japanese town called Kishi? (a quick visit to Wikipedia reveals this is not so, but it is a relatively common Japanese surname)
well, there’s a mcgill university in montreal, but none in nyc as I can tell
In the Winter Vacation Super Special, Stacey falls in LUV with a French Canadian guy called Pierre d’Amboise. Amboise is a town in France.
All these examples still beat Sweet Valley, where French people had names like “Che Crepe”. A crepe is a freakin pancake!
Call me stupid, but as an Australian, I never put Hobart with Tasmania. So blatantly obvious…
Stoneybrookite is a Baby-sitters Club blog written by Greer. It has been online in one form or another since 2002. Greer has been reading the BSC since 1993. She was also stamped as "Stacey" at BSC Stamped. Her geographic location is hard to pin down, as she has lived in seven cities in two countries in past five years, but a part of her is always in Stoneybrook. Hence "Stoneybrookite," the official term for residents of Stoneybrook.
