Am I the only one who noticed that the articles are saying that the publishers are updating the trends, not exactly the author? I'm sure Ann is approving, but "slithered" is certainly not something Ann would write in that context in her books...

My take on the whole Jessi thing was I didn't remember being really bad when I was first reading the series (and I am black!) so if they don't update it I won't be upset. As for the fashions? I was a Mary Anne dresser (I wore slacks, swear to god) until I graduated, so it's all good to me.

I have to tell myself that anything that (possibly) brings the BSC to more people is awesome... because the fact that they're "updating" bothers me. Quite a bit. I'm very attached to the original series, and, in many ways, Stacey without a perm just isn't Stacey to me.

Well, Stacey brought her clothes at bloomingdales, which doesn't really have a junior's department, so maybe. :) It does sound like a Stacey outfit from that time.

Well, you said it didn't seem that different than the outfits featured in the series. Do you feel like they were dressing like 30 year olds in the late 90s? Because it's vaguely reminiscent of the stuff Stacey liked (blank tank top, silver sandals) I wonder if Ann was like, "awesome, I don't have to do much updating if 80s/90s fashions are popular again." Wonder if Kristy will still be sporting turtlenecks and sweaters...
