Stoneybrookite

the best friends you’ll never have

An interesting tidbit about the rereleases that I had never read before:

Scholastic has plans to reissue the first seven books with new covers. And if there’s a strong response, more books could follow.

(from here)

I knew that the rereleasing wasn’t indefinite, but I had not yet known where the line had been drawn. So it’s up to Claudia and Mean Janine, I guess. I would think, though, that Boy-Crazy Stacey or Logan Likes Mary Anne! would be a better stopping point, though. B-C S is so fun and in Sea City, and LLMA is book #10 and we get a sort-of resolution to Mary Anne’s storyline. Plus, more romance.

Maybe it’s because CMJ was made into a graphic novel? I don’t know, seven just seems like an odd stopping place to me.

Better head out and buy all of them so that this is a non-issue!

Stacey is one of my least favorite sitters, but Boy Crazy Stacey is probably my favorite book of the whole series. I don’t know why, but I must have read it a dozen times.

Claudia and Mean Janine is another one in my top three, though, so I guess I can’t be too upset about it. I would guess that it’s because they wanted to make it to that one because of the GN issue.

I kind of dislike what they’ve done with the new covers so far though. They’re so…blah.

I agree with Sadako! I saw the re-releases and went “oh, really? come on!”

totally agree with you right there. my guess is the reason why they want to stop it at #7 is because
1. 7 is a lucky number
2. book #7 was probably the one that draw the most fans in the babysitters club.
3. #7 was also the book where mimi got a stroke, so yeah those are probably reasons why
and i agree with you sadako,
those new covers are so bogus.

p.s. logan likes mary anne was my favorite original book( before mallory and jessi came along that is.)

i guess the reason why for that book is because that was back when logan was actually much more tolerable and more sweet, compared to the way he acts later on in the series(for example book 41)

did i add that claudia and mean janine was the first bsc book ive read when i was child and that’s what started my obsession with babysitters club books.
