Kristy and the Missing Child has always been my least favorite, and I don’t even know why. It is probably the one that I have reread the least, and not just because I always seem to lose it for years at a time. It’s just… a kid going missing is a pretty frightening thing, but you know that nothing Actually Bad is going to happen to Jake, because that is too much for a BSC book. But also the Kuhn family isn’t one I can bring myself to care about too much, either.
Also, this may have one of the Worst Mary Anne moments in the series, where Mary Anne can’t bring herself to give a shit about Jake Kuhn because SHE’S HAVING PROBLEMS IN HOME EC. Get a grip, lady. It’s HOME EC. A kid is missing and all she cares about is that she sucks at cooking? Crises bring out our true characters, and Mary Anne is a turd.
